Dear Carolina began on the whim of a young Venezuelan guitarist who shared his dream of playing in a bar in America with a friend who happened to have a good voice. From a trial performance at Phil's Tavern in Charlotte, NC to regular gigs around town, dear Carolina has snowballed its dream of playing in a bar to being "one of the hottest bands in town." The original 2 in the band, singer Dave Cohn and guitarist Alfonso Teran, were able to take it to the next level when bassist Brad Watson, drummer Dustin Foley, and saxaphone player Jeremy Adams joined the group.
Originally performing under the name "The Dave Cohn Band", Dave and Alfonso wanted to pick a more original and fitting name for their band. The name dear Carolina was born from Dave's deep love of the city of Charlotte, where he was born and raised, his undying devotion as an alumnus of the University of North Carolina, and countless great memories made in the Carolinas. Alfonso shared Dave's feelings of how "dear" Carolina was to him as this is the place where America's doors of opportunity have opened for him.
Dear Carolina is a true crowd pleaser with their ability to play a wide range of hits from country, pop, rock, and classics. They are bombarded with requests to play their originals, popular because of their unique style of "frat rock" with a Southern/Latin flair. dear Carolina's charm, stage presence, talent, good looks, and ability to have a great time have made them a must-see band. They are proud of their rise from a trial-basis, 2-man band started in the spring of 2004 to accumulating over 250 performances and counting by being one of the most highly sought after bands around.
